Does MAQUET provide cables for the IBP (invasive blood pressure) transducer used with my IABP?

  • No, MAQUET only offers a reusable P23XL transducer & interface cable (part numbers 0012-00-1245 cable and 0682-00-0084 transducer). We do not provide any disposable cables. You should contact the manufacturer of the disposable IBP set that you are using. These cables are unique to the IBP set and the cables cannot be interchanged between manufacturers.

Where can I find a listing of repair parts for my IABP?

  • Section 4 of the appropriate service manual lists all the Repair Parts available for your IABP. A listing of the available Service Parts for all IABPs can be found in the Service Product Catalog.

How often should the Safety Disk Leak Test be performed?

  • The Safety Disk Leak test should be performed before or after each use.

When testing an IABP, can I attach a balloon directly to the Safety Disk without the 6 foot catheter extender?

  • No, the catheter extender provides 30cc of additional volume to the balloon circuit. An Autofill Failure alarm may result if the extender is not attached.

What is the difference between the white and brown helium tanks?

  • The white helium tank, part number 0202-00-0104 is a disposable tank, shipped full. The brown helium tank, part number 0075-00-0024-01 (1 pc.) or 0075-00-0024-03 (pkg. of 3) is refillable, shipped full. The brown refillable tanks part number 0075-00-0034-03 (Pkg. of 3) are shipped empty. Please refer to the Service Product Catalog for additional details and for the part numbers of the French and German refillable helium tanks.

Can I send my empty reusable helium tanks to MAQUET to be refilled?

  • No, MAQUET does not refill helium tanks. These cylinders incorporate a standard post-style valve and may be refilled by suppliers who normally refill M4 size cylinders. Cylinders filled by any medical gas supply company may be used if they meet DOT, CGA, and USP requirements. Additional local requirements may apply depending on specific locale. MAQUET recommends using only medical grade USP Helium with the system.

Can I use the barometric pressure as reported by the local weather channel to check the calibration of the internal IABP transducers?

  • No, you must use the non-compensated or station pressure for these checks. The station pressure is the non-compensated absolute pressure value. If this value is not available, use the elevation chart in the calibration section of the service manual.

I have noticed condensation or water droplets in the Safety Disk tubing, is this normal?

  • Yes, during balloon pumping, a fine mist or small droplets of water may occasionally be observed within the IAB extension catheter and/or fill and drain tubing. This mist is condensed water. The IABP has a condensate removal module which automatically collects and removes condensate without operator intervention.

What is the part number for the recorder paper used with the IABP?

  • The part number for the recorder paper used in all IABPs is 0683-00-0422-02 for a box of 10 individual rolls.

Do I need any special test equipment to check the fiber optic functions of a CS300?

  • Yes, in addition to the test equipment required for other IABPs, you will need a Sensor Module Tester part number 0992-00-0245 and a low level output cable part number 0012-00-1589-02. You will also need a Digital Pressure Meter which is not sold by MAQUET. Please consult the CS300 Service Manual for specific details.

During Preventive Maintenance, what procedure can be performed to remove water condensation found in the Safety Disk Drain (purge) tubing?

  • The following procedure can be performed to remove water and should be performed during Preventative Maintenance to minimize water related operation difficulties.

    1. Enter Service Diagnostics and select Pneumatic System Test.
    2. Disconnect anything that may be attached to the IAB Catheter Extender Input port on the Safety Disk. Activate K3 and K5 to purge the entire Drain Line. Select Safe State.
    3. Plug the IAB Catheter Extender Input on the Safety Disk and activate K1, K2, K3, K4, and K5.
    4. Move the cursor up to K2 and deactivate it to refill the cylinder. Activate K2 to empty the cylinder again. This will fill and then empty the Volume Cylinder. This process will clear the path from the cylinder to the Vacuum Reservoir. Complete several more cycles of K2 on/off.
    5. Select Safe State.
